Teach English in Milan
The good news is that if you want to teach English in Milano, there is usually plenty of work for teachers who are prepared to be proactive. Most new arrivals hoping to teach English in Milan start off working with one of the many language schools in the area. There’s no denying it’s a good way to get yourself settled and find your feet, but you’ll quickly realise that most language schools employ overseas teachers on contracts that include no guarantees of either a basic salary or even teaching hours. By the time you start thinking about sorting out some sort of social life, you’ll have realised that you don’t earn enough to have one, and that’s where MilanoInglese comes in!
Many of the teachers registered on MilanoInglese started out working for language schools and taking on private students to fill the gaps. As they started to get more and more enquiries, they then moved to working freelance, full-time. You’ll quickly realise that teaching privately allows you to manage your time much better and decide who, when and where you teach, in addition to earning more money.
Created in 2009 by a small group of mother-tongue English teachers, MilanoInglese offers teachers a way to promote themselves in a professional and effective way. It worked for us, and countless other teachers, so will work for you too.
Freelance teaching is not all milk and honey – you need to be able to ‘sell’ your services to clients, you need to organise your own diary and provide your own teaching materials. Nobody can guarantee that new students will come knocking on your door every day and there are always quiet periods every year. The upside is that you’re likely to earn around twice as much as the average teacher in a school if you’re a halfway decent teacher. Many earn considerably more.
What we do
MilanoInglese is a long-established and trusted presence, a place where teachers can advertise their services in a professional way and at sensible professional rates. Teachers pay a registration and annual fee to join the site and nothing else. Enquiries from site visitors are sent straight to you, and we have zero input beyond that.
MilanoInglese provides a trustworthy place where potential students can look for and contact teachers who offer private lessons and it has been on or near the top of all related Google searches for over a decade, with good reason. Put simply; it works.
Registering on MilanoInglese isn’t free, and there are certain rules and requirements. For example, teachers must be legally living and working in Italy, and so on. All teachers are required to provide proof of legal residence and their rights to work. In order to protect those teachers who are already registered, we also restrict the number of teachers who can join.
